Sports Leaders
In Leeds North West we are very proud of our dedicated, enthusiastic, and talented sports leaders. Individuals apply to become part of the PE and Sport workforce for their own school, and the School Sport Partnership. Leaders receive sport specific and generic training to develop the skills required to officiate, coach and nuture younger students. Leadership develops important life skills that support all career paths such as communication, organisation, team building and ensuring fair play. Once trained students go on to officiate and coach sessions and competitions leading children younger than them. How sports leaders interact with younger players has a direct effect on the experience the young competitors have, and enjoyment. It is really important players feel nurtured and happy so they continue to participate. Some students have gone on to Sports & PE related degrees and careers. Many continue to officiate and coach in their communities.
