11th July 2016.
What a fantastic start to the week with eighty-one primary school students from Leeds Schools jumping, dancing and twirling at the Leeds Wake Up Shake Up Final at Ralph Thoresby HS.
Students and staff have been working hard over the summer term to develop fun dance/aerobic performances designed to increase physical activity within the school day.
Y10 Sports Academy students from St Mary's Menston judged the event. They were looking for performances that were simple to follow, fun, creative and energetic.
The following schools took part: Horsforth Newlaithes, Meanwood, Bramley, Scholes, Moortown, East Ardsley, Adel, Valley View & Holy Trinity.
KS1 Winners: Holy Trinity (second year running).
KS2 Winners: Horsforth Newlaithes.
The winning teams will be invited to showcase their performances at the Active Schools Conference in October. Hopefully, the wake up shake up bug will then grow across Leeds.
